The day has finally arrived that I have been waiting for since I saw Home Alone 2 when I was a kid….I AM GOING TO NEW YORK FOR CHRISTMAS AND NEW YEAR!
Back in July we received an email from a friend asking if we would housesit an apartment in the East Village, Manhattan for two weeks over Christmas and New Year and we almost couldn’t believe our eyes and that’s when I realised dreams come true! We are so lucky to have this opportunity and although we weren’t planning on doing a trip at Christmas this year, this was too good to pass up!
So we booked our flights and began to plan our dream trip and now the day is finally here. This is what we are getting up to during our two weeks in New York City.
Me in New York in 2010 looking pretty chuffed to be there!
CityPASS New York have given us two passes to enjoy loads of attractions around the city. This is what we are doing to do and see:
Empire State Building, Museum of Natural History, The Met Museum, Top of the Rock, Statue of Liberty and 9/11 Memorial and Museum.
We are going to see the New York Knicks take on Orlando Magic at Madison Square Garden. I was hoping to see a concert there but I am really happy to see a basketball game as I’ve never been to a live match before.
We are also seeing the New England Patriots who are the current Super bowl champions take on New York Jetts in an American Football match. Bring on the foam finger and dirty American food and beers!
London does brunch well but I feel like New York is going to be even better. I have started following so many brunch spots on instagram that I am absolutely itching to get to. So far on my list is Two Hands and Jacks Wife Freda and Happy Bones which is a kiwi run coffee place, so if you have any recommendations please let me know.
I am also dying to get a proper kiwi pie from DubPies. I have been following them on twitter and instagram for so long in the hope that one day I’ll be in NY and that time has come. No one does pies like the kiwis and I can’t wait to sink my teeth into a steak mince and cheese pie!
If you have any restaurants or bars that are must do’s in New York please send them my way!
I am hoping to see and do everything Christmas related whilst I am there, ice skating in Central Park, shopping, seeing the Christmas tree at Rockefeller Centre and everything else! Again, if you have Christmas recommendations send them my way!
I hope you all have a great Christmas and New Year and I can’t wait to share some exciting travel news with you in the New Year.
Merry Christmas x
