After writing about my favourite destinations earlier this year it got me thinking about the ones I am still dreaming about going to. I have an ultimate travel bucket list in my head but it’s time to share it so it makes me get out there and make it a reality. I am an avid traveller, I am always dreaming, planning, booking flights and thinking about where to go next. It’s hard being a travel blogger and seeing so many other amazing bloggers visit dream destinations so it’s about time I write a bucket list of the ones that are on the list and that I hope to visit in the next five years.
My husband Dan has been to India twice but thankfully is still keen to go back there. I know it’s going to be a tough place to visit but I know it will be worth it. I want to go on tiger safari in Bandhavgarh, go to a yoga retreat, see the sunrise over the Taj Mahal and get all hippy in Goa along with everything else along the way.
I am even more determined to go to Nepal now after the devastating earthquake. I have always wanted to see the Himalayas and I may even attempt the Base Camp trek. I can only imagine how beautiful the scenery is and how much of a unique destination it is to visit.
Everyone wants their ‘eat, pray, love’ moment in life and after reading the book and seeing the film I quite liked the idea of going to Indonesia. There are constantly images popping up on my instagram feed of Bali as well and it’s somewhere I’ve always wanted to visit.
4. Central America
Costa Rice, Guatemala, Panama and Belize are absolute dream destinations for me, I can’t wait to see the wild life, swim at the beaches, watch surfers and enjoy a laid back lifestyle on the coast. Caye Caulker in Belize although firmly on the trail is still an absolute dream for me and I can’t wait to see those colourful houses and chill out and after hearing about Bocas del Toro in Panama recently it is firmly on my list.
5. South America
South America is firmly on the tourist trail now and once you’ve ‘done’ Europe it’s inevitable that you will end up in South America and I want that to be my next big trip. I want to spend a good chunk of time here, preferably 3-5 months so I can see it properly, not whizz over the sights. Ultimately I want to learn some Spanish and take in everything this incredible continent has to offer. Believe it or not the Inca Trail isn’t on my list either, I’d rather take the train.
I visited Africa back in 2011 for just two weeks but those two weeks were enough to get me hooked, it’s not an easy destination, it’s not cheap but my goodness there is no where on earth like it. My plan is to do a long overland trip starting in Nairobi and ending in Cape Town and seeing everywhere in between, I would love to spend some time in South Africa as well as doing some volunteering with animals.
The scenery, the wildlife and the chance to see the Northern Lights again. There are no words, just take me there now!
The snow capped mountain pictures get me every time I see them and after making a really good friend from Canada here in London I know I have to visit this country. I always see this iconic image of Banff whenever I’m searching Canada and it gets me every time.
As much as us Kiwis and Aussie’s have rivalry (mainly sport related) I think we can appreciate each other’s beautiful countries. Having only been to Sydney, Melbourne and Gold Coast I am absolutely dying to get to Aussie and see a bit more. The first stop for me has to be the Whit Sundays, ever since hearing about this place I just knew I had to go. I intend to do a boat trip around here and then visit the Great Barrier Reef. After seeing countless pictures of Hervey Bay on Sammy’s instagram I’ve also added this to the list along with Perth and even Tasmania.
10. New Zealand
I’ve saved the best until last, just because I am from New Zealand doesn’t mean I’ve actually travelled in NZ so when or if I return there one day I hope to see a lot more of this beautiful country. Having only been to Queenstown and Lake Tekapo in the South Island there is just so much I want to do. I want to go to wineries, climb glaciers, kayak in Abel Tasman National Park, see Whales in Kaikoura and go to the very top of the North Island.
Some of these bucket list destinations are about to become a reality in the not too distant future so stay tuned for a BIG announcement in the new year.
