A few weeks ago I was reading Kelly’s blog about all of her wonderful luxury adventures when I noticed my little name at the end, she had nominated me to answer a few questions for the sisterhood of the world bloggers so here are my answers.
Where is your all-time favourite destination?
This is such a hard question because now I’ve visited 42 countries and it’s almost impossible to choose one that is an all time favourite but I guess if I had to choose one it would be Italy. Reasons being that you can eat pizza and ice cream every day and it is acceptable, it is rich in history, it has some incredibly old buildings and fascinating cities along with a beautiful coast line and gorgeous beaches and I just can’t resist the language. So you could say Italy has it all so that is why it is one of my favourite destinations.
Which post are you most proud of?
I am really proud of my ‘Chasing the Northern Lights in Norway’ because I had read so many of these posts before I went and never thought I’d see the elusive Northern Lights but I did AND I got some pretty epic photos too. This was a special evening in Tromos, Norway and I’m so glad I captured it, put it into words and showed all my readers just how amazing this experience was.
Who would you invite to your dream dinner party, alive or dead?
David Attenborough, my husband Dan, Jim Morrison and Ricky Gervais.
Do you have a favourite travel app?
I do love a bit of trip advisor because it is full of honest reviews which is helpful in a world that is superficial at times. I use booking.com to book all of my accommodation and when on long trips with several destinations I use tripit as it bundles all of your flights, accommodation and transfers into one itinerary.
What’s your favourite and least favourite thing about blogging?
My favourite thing about blogging is reading about and finding destinations that I’d never even heard of and making it a reality. I love meeting fellow bloggers/travel addicts and I love that I’ve learnt a whole new skill, it is a fantastic hobby to have. My least favourite is that I literally can’t switch off. I’m checking twitter, instagram, catching up on my blog reading on bloglovin, checking emails, writing blog posts and editing photos and for a hobby it sometimes gets a bit much.
Is there anything you like to do any time you visit somewhere new?
I’m a walker so if I can walk most places I will and I will try and avoid public transport especially metro’s and undergrounds as I like to see everything. I also like to get ‘high’ (not in that sense), I like to get to a high point in a city and see it from above to get a real perspective. I’ve done a series on my blog titled ‘View from the top’ that shows all of the places I’ve visited with amazing views.
Where is somewhere you’ve been or something you did that you didn’t expect much of, but ended up loving?
It may seem strange but I love Ibiza, I’ve been to the Balearic Island twice and both times had an absolute blast. It is a beautiful island full of life. Everyone is there for the same reason, happiness, love, music and good times. I just love the laid back nature of the place and the wild nights in the worlds best clubs.
What’s your pet peeve?
As a teacher you may find this weird but it has to be kids on planes, for some reason I always end up either in front of, next to or behind that little Johnny, you know that screaming child on a plane or the one that won’t put his belt on or the the one who is playing that really loud game on the iPad. My tolerance for kids wears thin when I see parents allowing kids free reign on aeroplanes and in airports with absolutely no consideration for anyone around them. I like to call it the ones with entitlement issues.
What’s your most treasured possession?
I’d have to say my passport because without that wonderful little book my life wouldn’t be the same. It is my most treasured possession because it has allowed me to come and live in the U.K without a visa (thanks to my English heritage) and it has allowed me to work in London and travel all over the world. Along with my passport is always my trusty DSLR Nikon camera that I bought in Malaysia back in 2008, it has been on every trip since then and captured some of my favourite moments.
So there is my post on the sisterhood of the world bloggers
