Well this month has been filled with sports, renovations, brunching, beer brewing, dinners out and the start of winter and Christmas.
The month started off on a high as New Zealand won the Rugby World Cup, it was a pretty exciting time and my friends and I celebrated well into the night.
I attended my second NFL football match of the season at Wembley, it was the Detroit Lions so my friend Cara who is Canadian but lives right on the border of Detroit came with to support her team. Going to an American Football match is such an experience, the cheerleaders, the mascots, the fans and the atmosphere is so much fun!
I moved into a new place back in September and the bathroom didn’t have a shower (so weird right?) so we had builders in for a week to completely re-do the bathroom. Being a grown up sux sometimes as I’d much rather spend the money on a nice holiday but it had to be done. It does look pretty cool and I can say that pinterest dreams/boards can come true!
I finally went to Milk Cafe in Balham after reading so many blog posts about it and drooling over their instagram. I very rarely venture south of the river but as one of my friends lives in Clapham it only seemed fair. We did have to queue but we were seated after about 25 minutes. I went for their ‘The convict’ breakfast which was pretty darn good, the interior was really cool and we very much enjoyed our brunch.
I went to Bad Egg in Moorgate for my friends birthday as well for a bottomless brunch which you can read about here:
So I drink coffee now, after years of never trying to stuff or wanting to drink it because I didn’t want to be one of those people who can’t function without it I’ve finally succumbed and I have the odd flat white or two a week now. So here is some pretty coffee art. My favourite at the moment is Pavilion on Broadway Market but I’ve also been to The Fields Beneath in Kentish Town and Climpson & Sons on Broadway Market.
I’m currently trying to save like crazy so I am trying to eat out less as it is a huge expense but I managed three meals out this month. The first was a Brick Lane curry for Cara’s actual birthday celebrations. We managed a pretty sweet deal – naan, main, pappodums and wine for £14 each. We pigged out pretty well that night.
Dan and I went to our new favourite restaurant Bella Vita on Broadway Market as they do 30% off Tuesdays, we are able to have a meal and a drink each for £20 which aint bad!
We stumbled across a new restaurant in Soho called Rustika through the Tastecard. Italian food is without doubt my favourite and this restaurant served some mouth water food, I will write more about this in a ‘Recent food adventures’ post to come soon.
Back in July this year my friends and I won a competition to name the brewery at the Brewhouse and Kitchen so we finally collected our prize which was to spend a day brewing beer. I will go into this in more dept in a separate blog post but I will say it was a really fun day!
Christmas is coming
The final weekend in November to me means it is the start of Christmas. So what better way to kick off the silly season than attend two of London’s biggest Christmas markets – Winterville and Winter Wonderland. Having been to Winter Wonderland several times we tried Winterville first but to be honest it was a massive let down, it was really small, limited food and drink options and it doesn’t help that it was pretty much empty so we got on the tube and headed to Winter Wonderland where it was heaving but in a good way.
- Blogger wine tasting event
- Taste club
- Christmas day with my friends – pjs, xmas movies, lots of food and of course plenty of wine
