Well it has been one month since I moved to my new neighbourhood and once all the unpacking was done it was time to explore. London Fields is right on my door step and that includes the very cool Broadway Market which is on every Saturday. I have spent the last month sampling the local walks, restaurants, pubs and parks and this is what I have found so far.
Market Cafe Broadway Market
One Saturday morning after a rather heavy night at Pub on the Park in London Fields I ventured to Market Cafe on Broadway Market to feast on their brunch menu, I am a creature of habit so of course I opted for the Eggs Benedict but my friend got Avocado on toast and Dan got ratatoulie. When the food arrived it was stone cold so I sent it back to be heated up but received a new plate of food, still a little cold but better than before. I had a lovely freshly squeezed orange juice and because I was in need of good food I ordered a side of hash browns as well. The cafe is really quaint but very busy on the weekends, they have a licence so there were plenty of bubbles floating around as well, they even had prosecco on tap!
Patty and Bun
I stumbled across this little burger joint which is situated under the arches of London Fields station after purchasing some bread from the E5 bakery after a recommendation from a friend. Patty and Bun was busy and bustling upon our arrival but we sat down at the large bench table and ordered a burger to share along with chips and coleslaw. The highlight for me was their caramelised banana milk, the service was good and we enjoyed our food and will most definitely return.
We discovered Bella Vita restaurant on our first night in the new house and fell in love with the Italian restaurant and have since returned for their 30% off Tuesdays. The place is always packed and with good reason, the food is amazing. On the first occasion I ordered the gnocchi and the second time I got the spinach and ricotta cannelloni. Both dishes were rich in flavour and I couldn’t finish them!
From London Fields and down Broadway Market you can step on to the canal and take a leisurely stroll to nearby Victoria Park, I haven’t spent much time in this park but I was pleasantly surprised how lovely it was on a Sunday morning. The pavilion cafe was so popular we couldn’t get a table but I was happy to just stroll around, watch people doing yoga, walking their dogs, cycling and watch the canal boats float by.
