I went to Ibiza three years ago with a total pre conception and I was totally overwhelmed by the beauty and laid back nature I just I had to return, fast forward three years and I’m back with four friends in tow.
My choice for this holiday was a bit of both (but mainly partying). Myself, Dan and four friends caught a late from Gatwick and headed for the beautiful island of Ibiza. We arrived at 2 am in the morning so we checked in at our all inclusive hotel called Hotel Algarb and got some sleep. Little did I know it was the most sleep I would get for the next four days.
On our first day in Ibiza we decided to walk along Playa den Bossa beach to scope it out. It was quiet, peaceful and had only a few strays from the previous night still going. We walked to the end of the beach where we found an old fort, we climbed to the top to get this lovely view over the beach.
As we were all inclusive this meant we had our three meals a day, snacks and most importantly our drinks included. We sat happily around the pool that day drinking, trying to work the go pro and working on our tans. No trip to Playa Den Bossa would be complete without an afternoon at Bora Bora. Bora Bora is an afternoon party on the beach, plenty of loud tunes, dancers and the best part….dancing in the sand!
The party carried on late into the night and to say it was an epic first day would be an understatement!
The following day we got up and about early to head to the nearby island of Formentera. I’d heard so many great things about this island and if it’s good enough for Kate Moss I just had to check it out. We caught a 10am ferry from Playa den Bossa and it took just 45 minutes. Once we disembarked we hired bikes from the nearest shop for a cheap €6 for a day and headed straight for the famous beach that has got the clearest water you ever did see.
After some sun bathing and swimming (not me the water was too cold) we biked around for a bit to find food, we found the most idyllic location. It was right by the sea and so calm and peaceful it was the perfect day.
Now just because it was Monday does not mean it was going to be a tame night. We purchased our tickets for Pacha, one of the most famous clubs in the world! The legend that is Fat Boy Slim was playing and it’s been a child hood dream to see him play and I can assure you he didn’t disappoint! Eat, sleep, rave, repeat became our official song/anthem of the holiday.
I went to Pacha last time I was in Ibiza and I was happy to go back, it’s a sophisticated establishment with the best décor and world class DJ’s. The whole place had been decorated in Fat Boy Slim signs and the paper cannons were non stop all night! We danced until about 5.30am before calling it a night.
Even though I had planned to do much more in Ibiza after this night the plans kind of went out the window. I wanted to get bikes and go around the island, go to the hippy market and see the sunset at the famous Café del Mar. None of this happened but I genuinely didn’t mind because myself and my friends were having such a great time together. For the next two days, we ate, drank, partied, sun bathed and I even fit in a massage!
After our first Pacha night, we decided to stay more local. So that day we hung out around the pool, went back to Bora Bora and ventured to Sankey’s club in Playa den Bossa. Our final day in Ibiza went much the same, pool, swim, sunbathe and try and get over the hangover. Our final night we decided to go back to Pacha as there were two DJ’s we wanted to see. Pacha didn’t disappoint again. So much fun, so much dancing, so many smiles, we were all on cloud 9!
Our flight was an early one so after about what felt like half an hour of sleep we needed to get up, pack and head straight for the airport at 8.30am absolutely broken! I stupidly was drinking tap water at the clubs to save on the £8 bottled water and felt the affects for a whole week in the form of a horrific tummy bug.
Note to self: DO NOT DRINK THE TAP WATER.
Things to know:
Buy your club tickets before going. We paid €35 and on the door it was €50
Water in clubs costs €8
Beer is clubs costs €10
Ibiza is what you make it, this trip was a great time with great friends and memories that we will all cherish. I plan to go back again, I love the vibe, atmosphere, the people and just the general euphoria of the place. The beautiful beaches and big clubs will always keep me coming back.
