Twenty thirteen has been another successful year for me. I have continued my love of travel by visiting eleven countries, fulfilled a dream by attending Glastonbury Festival (where I got engaged) and lost a total of 9kg with a little help from my kick boxing classes and good old calorie counting. It was time to get rid of that damn Heathrow injection!
But this post is all about the travel! Here is a round up of all the wonderful places I have been to this year.
One of my favourite trips of 2013 was in February. We went to Iceland for five days to see the Northern Lights and see as much of Iceland as possible. This country is something else, I haven’t been anywhere like it and I felt really lucky to visit. I loved the capital city of Reykjavik which I blogged about here and the excursions to Southern Iceland and Golden Circle that we did out of the city were incredible. I especially loved spending the day at The Blue Lagoon, you can read about it here.
We then flew over to Denmark to spend a couple of days checking out the beautiful city of Copenhagen.
The next trip was to Switzerland for a few days in Zurich and then onto Barcelona in April. It was one extreme to the other going from the Swiss capital to Barca but I liked them both. Zurich was clean, green and very pretty although a little expensive, it was just nice being in Switzerland. We then flew to sunny Spain to spend four days in Barcelona to do nothing else than sight see, drink cava, drink sangria and eat tapas. It was such a wonderful vibrant city and I loved seeing all of the Gaudi buildings which you can read about here.
In May me and my girlfriend went to the South of France for a week to enjoy the sights of Nice, Monaco and Cannes. It was such a fun week in which we spent drinking cheap wine and eating a gelato a day. I loved Nice and it was a really welcome sunny break during a pitiful spring in London.

Being a teacher I am very lucky to get six weeks off during the summer holidays so we literally spent every possible day travelling around Europe and the Balkans. We started in Czech Republic and finished in Montenegro and went everywhere possible in between. We went to Czech Republic, Austria, Slovakia, Croatia, Bosnia and Montenegro. Braitslava was a massive surprise for me and I loved the city. Croatia was most definitely the highlight, such a beautiful country, so many great memories! Montenegro absolutely took the cake for the most stunning and relaxed week I’ve had in ages.

The last trip was to Bergen in Norway for a sneaky weekend trip. We loved it, such a cute little seaside town and visiting the fjords was a real treat.
2013 has been such a wonderful year for me and I can’t wait to see what adventures are in store next year. Trips planned so far are: New Zealand in April, a hens weekend hopefully to Disneyland Paris in June and Maldives in August. There’s also the grand occasion of our wedding in August too.
