I am writing this because I had a little nostalgic moment the other day whilst looking through old photos. Not only do I look so much younger, fresher and skinnier it was just nice to think about all the great memories.

I’m not looking back through rose tinted glasses though, it was a completely different life style and it wasn’t an easy year but I had fun with friends, got to zoom around the gorgeous island on my scooter most weekends and see some pretty awesome places in South East Asia.

Some of the best memories are at the nearest island of Koh Phangan at full moon parties, the nearby Angthong National Park (where ‘The Beach’ was set) and my local beach of Lamai where I spent many Saturdays sunbathing, eating, drinking, getting my nails done and hanging out with friends.

It was a great experience for me and certainly made me grow up! I do think it was also the beginning of me being bitten by the travel bug. After living here I knew I had to live somewhere other than New Zealand and experience a different life. I am so pleased I was given this opportunity, but like any decision it must not be taken lightly. Although Thailand is nicknamed the ‘Land of smiles’ as an expat the smiles grew thinner (and greedier) the more time I spent there. I hated having to leave the country every 3 months just to get my passport stamped and it was difficult not living with clean water straight out of the tap. The good experiences always out weigh the bad and I will share some more snaps from Thailand and South East Asia as time goes on.
