When I first moved to the UK I had no family here and just a scattering of friends so my first Christmas was spent in Egypt (pre up rising), you can read about it here.

My second Christmas was after I met my now fiancee, instead of spending it with his family we decided to go on a safari as it was quite resaonably priced for that time of year and as we are both teachers, having two weeks off and not going abroad is a crime in our eyes. We had Christmas day in the Ngorongoro crater in Tanzania, followed by a bbq at the camp site.

Last years for the first time since moving here I stayed in the UK, we spent the day with Dans family in Weston Super Mare after spending some time in the Lake District. Again this year we are staying in the UK, just venturing a little further to the island of Jersey in the channel islands to spend it with Dans sister who lives there. We would have liked to go somewhere exotic like Sri Lanka or do another safari but this whole saving for a wedding business is happening so we have to rein it in for just one year.

I am really looking forward to another very different Christmas, I doubt it’ll be a white one but I know it will be a great one.
