It started with me getting a full time job after temping for 6 months which was great news! It also led me to meeting the love of my life Dan the man! We moved into a lovely flat a few months later and w’eve had alot of fun setting up home.
Highlights of the travelling year began in Egypt, I had a great 2 weeks travelling this diverse country and really enjoyed learning about the vast history.
February holidays were spent in very chilly Ireland. I had a great time travelling all over and meeting great people. I kissed the Blarney Stone and maybe thats the secret to my good luck this year!
April, was a short trip to Bruges, a week filled with beer, chocolate and good food!
May was spent in my first Eastern European country Estonia. I didn’t know what to expect but what we saw we liked, Tallin was a beautiful old town and Parnu was a great little beach town.
The summer was a great holiday filled with history and gorgeous beaches! Rome was a highlight for me, it was the most interesting place I’ve ever visited and I feel I only scratched the surface. Seeing the Coloseum for the first time is undescribable, it really is as magnificent as you can imagine.
Greece was also a lovely treat, seeing those white domes at sunset on the island of Santorini was absolute bliss. August I spent some time with my Mum and Dad here in the UK. It was nice to show them my life here and after a year and a half it’s always nice to see your Ma and Pa isn’t it!
Stockholm was a quickie break, was nice to visit a Scandanavian country, even if it was freezing cold!
Of course, we saved the best until last. Africa!! It’s one of those things I’ve always wanted to do but I thought it was unachievable. After searching the net for days we managed to find an affordable safari and thats how we spent our Christmas day, looking at elephants, lions and rhinos.
2011 also brought my lovely nephew Liam. What a treat being an Aunty!
Let’s hope 2012 is just as rewarding, with holidays already in the pipeline and a trip back to New Zealand I know it will be.
